Using iPhones as Brake Pads On A Porsche 996 – Video
We have to be honest that the possibility of using iPhones 4S/5S as brake pads on a sportscar has never crossed our minds. But we live in the age of mass video productions, where basically any kind of a search on Google can lead you to all sorts of crazy videos.
The people from EverythingApplePro, a channel mainly about Apple products, decided that we should know how the iPhone 4S/5S works as a brake pad for a high-performance car – their logic was, just in case your brake pads finished, you find yourself in the middle of nowhere with no mechanics in site and your iPhone does not have reception.
They installed four iPhone 5S and four iPhone 4S devices to a 2002 Porsche 996 with a big brake kit borrowed from me 996 turbo and started performing the insane tests.
To everyone’s surprise, the iPhones did pretty well in the 20 mph stopping test, but from then on they were as useless for braking as brake pads are for making phone calls.
