This Xiaomi Car Just Beat Every Other Vehicle in Crash Tests!

Chinese tech company Xiaomi is stepping deeper into the automotive world, and it is not just about sleek design or futuristic features anymore. The Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan just earned an impressive five-star safety rating in the Chinese New Car Assessment Program crash test for 2024 — and it was not just any five-star result. It topped the charts with the highest safety score among all vehicles tested this year.

Launched in March 2024, the Xiaomi SU7 has been a runaway success, with 186,112 units sold so far. Even today, demand outpaces supply, and the wait time for new buyers has stretched to a full 11 months.

The model tested was the Xiaomi SU7 Max — the all-wheel-drive version packed with high-end safety features. It comes equipped with a Lidar sensor built by Hesai and Xiaomi’s own Pilot Max driver assistance system. With a retail price of 299,900 yuan, which is roughly 40,000 euros, the car delivers serious value for safety-conscious drivers.

In the crash tests, the Xiaomi SU7 Max scored an overall 93.5 percent — the highest of 2024 — and nearly 9 percent above the average. It scored 95.25 percent in Active Safety, especially excelling in automatic emergency braking and lighting systems. Occupant protection came in at 94.31 percent, while pedestrian protection was rated at 90.42 percent, which is over 13 percent higher than the category average.

With a second electric vehicle — the YU7 SUV — on the way, Xiaomi is clearly making safety a top priority. It is not just building electric vehicles. It is building trust.
