Shelby GT350R Mustang carbon fiber wheels Retail for nearly $30,000
One of the Mustang6G.com forum members has gone ahead and ordered the optional lightweight carbon fiber wheels for the very popular Shelby GT350R and he was kind enough to show how much they cost at retail price.
A stock Shelby GT350R Mustang is expected to have a base price of $61,370, but if you want to upgrade to carbon fiber wheels you will end up paying almost 50% more as these cost around $30,000, so most likely only a few people will be willing to pay that much for such an expensive option.
Putting pricing to the side, the wheels itself are actually awesome as each one weighs only 18 lbs which is a lot less than a normal factory aluminum wheel that tips the scales at 33 lbs.
Shelby says the GT350R Mustang when fitted with these lightweight wheels is going to provide “unprecedented chassis performance, massive weight savings and improved driving dynamics.”
The wheels have been built in collaboration with Australian supplier Carbon Revolution and were thoroughly tested to make sure these will be able to handle the suns UV exposure, curb strikes and extended exposure to intense heat generated by it’s massive brakes.
The wheels actually come with a special ceramic coating that can handle temperatures of more than the high 1652 degrees Fahrenheit (900 degrees Celsius). No less than 61 individual rigorous checks are done for each wheel while more than an incredible 18,000 X-ray images are taken to guarantee everything is in order. So it seems these wheels are so high quality and expressive that they belong on a hyper car.
