New 1,300 HP Yangwang U7 Shocks Everyone With Suspension Demo
BYD’s luxury brand Yangwang is gearing up to unveil its third vehicle, the U7 performance sedan, on March 27. In a bold teaser video released on Weibo, the electric sedan is seen gliding over an obstacle-filled runway with a Wing Chun master balanced on its roof—on one leg. The goal? To showcase the exceptional stability of the U7’s advanced Disus-Z suspension system.
The Yangwang U7 is a four-door, five-seat sedan stretching nearly 5.3 meters long. It delivers serious muscle, powered by four electric motors with a combined output of 1,282 horsepower and 1,584 Newton-meters of torque. Backed by a 135.5 kilowatt-hour battery, it offers a range of up to 720 kilometers under the CLTC cycle. While the final price will be revealed during the launch, BYD hints it is in the “million-yuan” range, which roughly equates to 138,000 United States dollars. However, an initial lower launch price is expected.
Filmed at Zhangjiakou Ningyuan Airport in Hebei, the test scene involves the U7 cruising at 15 kilometers per hour over randomly spaced speed bumps. Despite the unpredictable terrain, the martial artist maintains his pose with remarkable calm, thanks to the car’s ability to individually control each wheel.
Built on an 800-volt architecture and offering up to 500 kilowatts of charging power, the U7 can add 300 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes. An all-electric version will be launched first, followed by a plug-in hybrid option.
