Is This Xiaomi’s Most Powerful Electric SUV Yet? What We Know So Far

Xiaomi’s third all-electric vehicle is already hitting the streets in camouflaged form, and we are starting to piece together what this new SUV might bring to the table. Although only a few blurry spy shots have surfaced online, they are enough to give us a rough idea. The prototype has a boxy shape, long rear overhang, and a tall roofline, clearly hinting that this will be Xiaomi’s most spacious model yet. From what we can see, the design language leans toward a more angular and serious look, standing apart from Xiaomi’s other more rounded vehicles.

Up front, we can barely spot a thin horizontal LED light bar, while the actual headlights are still covered. Xiaomi might stick with its signature lighting design seen on other models, but that has not been confirmed. The side mirrors are mounted on stalks—exactly like on Xiaomi’s earlier vehicles—suggesting some shared components between them. Around the back, the LED lighting appears to stretch across the entire width, giving it that sleek, modern feel common in current electric sport utility vehicles.

Internally known as “Kunlun”—named after the famous Chinese mountain range—this SUV aims to be Xiaomi’s flagship in size and presence. Based on the current naming logic used in China, it might be officially called YU9. As expected, this new vehicle will be fully electric, though technical specs remain under wraps for now. We will probably not have to wait long to find out more, as the global debut is expected sometime next year.
