Cherry red Cadillac CT6 Caught In China
A not so ready pre-production Cadillac CT6 prototype wearing a cherry red paint has been caught on video somewhere in China.
Cadillac revealed the Cadillac CT6 back in early April at the New York Auto Show and now a cherry red example has been spotted in China where most likely it was conducting a series of tests to fine-tune the luxury sedan for the local market.
It had a light tan interior cabin with plenty of leather and wood trim along with the standard 8-speed automatic tgearbox.
The identity of the engine residing under the hood is not known, but we can tell you Cadillac will offer the Cadillac CT6 with a 265 bhp turbo-four 2.0-liter, a mid-range V6 3.6-liter naturally aspirated motor with 335 bhp and a range-topping V6 3.0-liter twin-turbo pushing out 400 bhp (298 kW).
At an additional cost, there’s going to be an optional active-on-demand all-wheel drive system.
There will also be a more economical plug-in hybrid version mixing up a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo with dual electric motors generating a combined output of 335 bhp and 432 lb-ft. Thanks to a 18.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, the hybridized Cadillac CT6 promises to offer double the fuel efficiency of the conventionally-powered versions and should offer a minor electric range as well.
This Chinese version will be manufactured by the local Shanghai-GM venture whereas the US-spec model will be built at the Detroit-Hamtramck. Production is set to kick off by the end of the year, with sales to start early 2016.
