BMW Engine Block Coffee Table is scary and cool at the same time – Video
This is the second coffee table this guy has made, the first one he posted on Reddit 4 years ago and all the positive feedback (and 645k views) inspired him to implement some of his new ideas into a Version 2, which is the first mechanized one he has ever seen. The engine is from a 06 BMW 750i and it has quad over head camshafts.
The block and head are made of aluminum but yes it is still a heavy coffee table. This second version he put on wheels for ease of use. It is powered by the ignition switch giving power to a battery which then powers the starter which spins the flywheel, crank, chains and cams.
No it is not the safest piece of art but the key is not kept in it and his shop is not often visited by children so he is not worried, plus there are power tools around here which could cause a lot more damage in the wrong hands anyways.
