Audi Q9 Prototype Reveals Bold New Design Rendered
Just a few days ago, the first images of the test version of Audi’s new flagship crossover, the Q9, appeared online. That early sneak peek gave everyone — including the folks over at Kolesa — a good sense of how this full-size luxury vehicle is shaping up.
From what we can see, the Q9 will be an extended version of the next-generation Q7. Both vehicles share the same aggressive front-end design with a bold radiator grille and split lighting — slim daytime running lights just beneath the hood and large headlights integrated into the bumper. Audi is clearly continuing its move toward smooth, flowing body lines, ditching sharp creases. One cool detail? Traditional door handles are gone. Instead, the Q9 has flush-style handles located near the window line, similar to the Ford Mustang Mach-E.
Compared to the upcoming Q7, the Q9 has a longer wheelbase and rear overhang, adding more room and presence. The rear end also features a new layout, with the license plate now sitting on the bumper instead of the tailgate. Sweeping LED taillights, inspired by the latest Audi A6, finish off the look.
Underneath, the Q9 will ride on the Premium Platform Combustion. Expect multiple hybrid options and a performance-focused SQ9 trim powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine.
The full reveal might happen next year. Audi seems to be holding on to internal combustion engines for now — and we are not mad about it.
