JAC Hunter Revealed – Is This the Future of 4X4 Trucks?

The all-new JAC Hunter plug-in hybrid four-wheel drive utility truck made its global debut at the Melbourne Motor Show, and it is already shaping up to be a serious contender in the electrified utility segment. Scheduled to hit Australian showrooms in 2026, the Hunter combines power, innovation, and practicality in a bold new package.

At the heart of this dual-cab beast is a brand-new 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine working alongside electric motors on both the front and rear axles. This setup cranks out a combined 385 kilowatts of power and 1000 newton-meters of torque. That means it will easily outmuscle most plug-in hybrid competitors on the market.

Designed with both performance and efficiency in mind, the Hunter boasts an electric-only driving range of up to 100 kilometers thanks to its advanced lithium iron phosphate battery. It also features a Vehicle-to-Load system, so you can power tools, appliances, or even a campsite directly from the battery.

Step inside and you will find modern tech like a 10.4-inch portrait touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. It does not skimp on safety either, offering adaptive cruise control, enhanced emergency braking, and a 360-degree camera system.

The Hunter has undergone extensive testing in Australia to handle everything from city streets to rugged outback tracks. It is built tough and smart, with all-wheel-drive performance and excellent towing and payload capacity.
