You Have Never Seen a GR86 Like This Before: Meet the Yuzu Edition

Toyota is lighting up its performance lineup with something bold for 2026—the new GR86 Yuzu Edition. This sporty coupe arrives with a vibrant yellow paint that pays homage to a fan-favorite from the Scion days, the FR-S Release Series 1.0. Now reborn as part of the GR family, the Yuzu Edition blends style, performance, and exclusivity into one exciting package.

The Yuzu Edition is based on the GR86 Premium trim, which means it comes well-equipped right out of the gate. What sets this version apart, though, is its matte-black 18-inch wheels and bold black exterior accents that contrast beautifully with the bright yellow paint. Inside, it continues the theme with black Ultrasuede-trimmed seats featuring yellow stitching and perforation, along with matching yellow highlights on the steering wheel, door trim, and parking brake handle.

Underneath the skin, it is not just about looks. Toyota has included a performance package as standard, featuring SACHS dampers and Brembo brakes. These upgrades not only sharpen the driving dynamics but also give enthusiasts more stopping power and control in aggressive cornering. SACHS dampers are filled with high-pressure nitrogen and oil, designed to smooth out road imperfections and help the tires stay in contact with the pavement at all times. Brembo’s four-piston calipers in the front and two-piston calipers in the rear clamp down on large rotors for serious braking confidence.

Every GR86, including the Yuzu Edition, is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter four-cylinder boxer engine that delivers 228 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. That power goes to the rear wheels via a standard Torsen limited-slip differential, and buyers can choose between a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic. If you are rowing your own gears, the car hits zero to sixty in 6.1 seconds. Opting for the automatic puts that time at 6.6 seconds. Either way, you get a quick, playful experience behind the wheel.

What makes the GR86 even more exciting for purists is how balanced and responsive it feels on the road. Thanks to a combination of high-strength steel, hot-stamped steel, and lightweight aluminum in its chassis, the car is incredibly nimble. It weighs just 2,811 pounds in manual form and 2,851 pounds with the automatic transmission. That lightweight construction includes an aluminum hood, fenders, and roof, plus lighter seats that save over six pounds compared to the previous generation.

Inside, the GR86 keeps things focused and functional. The cockpit is low and driver-centric with a digital gauge cluster, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, piano-key HVAC switches, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The Yuzu and Premium trims also offer an upgraded eight-speaker audio system for those who want their soundtrack to go beyond the engine note.

Toyota is limiting the Yuzu Edition to just 860 units in North America, making it a rare find for collectors and enthusiasts alike. This version is all about personality, performance, and exclusivity—and it hits dealerships in the fall of 2025.
