2025 Corvette ZR1 VIN 001 Sold For $3.7 Million
The first retail production 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, bearing VIN 001, made headlines on January 25th during the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction. This exceptional vehicle fetched a jaw-dropping $3.7 million, with every penny of the hammer price dedicated to the American Red Cross. Chevrolet chose the Red Cross as the beneficiary to support disaster relief efforts, particularly for those affected by hurricanes Helene and Milton, as well as other crises like wildfires and storms.
Scott Bell, Vice President of Global Chevrolet, expressed pride in the Corvette ZR1’s role in this charitable endeavor. “The 1,064 horsepower Corvette ZR1 represents the pinnacle of American engineering,” Bell remarked. “Partnering with Barrett-Jackson and the Red Cross ensures this historic sale directly benefits those whose lives have been upended by natural disasters.”
Josh Holder, Corvette Chief Engineer, unveiled the ZR1 to an enthusiastic audience of bidders present in the room and tuning in globally. Following the presentation, the winning bid came from Rick Hendrick, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hendrick Companies. Hendrick’s generous purchase not only secured a piece of automotive history but also contributed significantly to a cause that supports disaster victims nationwide.
Chevrolet’s collaboration with the American Red Cross is not new. The company has a longstanding relationship with the organization, consistently providing assistance during times of need. Cliff Holtz, President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross, highlighted the importance of this partnership. “The Red Cross is working tirelessly to provide relief and hope to families affected by wildfires, floods, and other crises. Chevrolet’s support is invaluable in delivering the resources necessary to help communities in dire situations.”
This record-setting auction aligns with Chevrolet’s long history of using its vehicles to support charitable causes. Over the last 15 years, Chevrolet has raised millions through Barrett-Jackson charity auctions. In fact, the sale of eighth-generation Corvettes alone has brought in a total of $12.9 million. The $3.7 million price tag for the ZR1 equals the record set in 2022 for the first retail 2023 Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Edition.
Craig Jackson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Barrett-Jackson, reflected on the significance of the event. “General Motors has trusted us to auction some of their most coveted first-production vehicles, and we are honored to continue that tradition. The sale of the first retail 2025 Corvette ZR1 is not just a historic automotive moment but a step forward in helping the Red Cross provide critical support to those in need.”
This extraordinary sale underscores how the automotive and philanthropic worlds can come together to make a meaningful difference.
