Crazy Fast 107HP to each rear wheel and 1475 lb-ft of torque electric car

Tesla may rule the electric sports vehicle market with its Tesla Roadster but scientists at Germany’s Fraunhofer institution for Integrated Systems and Device Technology are giving the big car maker a run for its money with the monsters IISB-One. It’s built on the chassis of the already discontinued Artega GT sports car. The Artega GT’s V6 was swapped with two rear-mounted electric high torque motors and a lithium-ion battery pack. The electric sports car provides 107 horsepower to each rear wheel and an amazing 1,475 lb-ft of torque.

Performance numbers for the IISB-One haven’t been released yet, but the sports car should be able to give the Tesla PD85 D a good drag race. The IISB-One can be recharged using public charging stations just like the Tesla, power outlets and a contactless front floor-mounted induction panel. To us, this seems to be and looks like an incredible sports car, but there’s one major issue. This electric sports car isn’t going on sale, ever. Scientists plan to use the IISB-One as a research car to implement the technology into everyday road vehicles. We really wish an automaker would take the IISB-One off of the scientists’ hands and put it into production.
