Two Giant Cranes Collapse Onto Houses

Homes and local shops were destroyed after two humongous cranes collapsed while hoisting a section of a giant bridge.

The terrifying mishap was caught on video in the city of Alphen aan den Rijn in the Netherlands.

Rescuers were able to pull out one survivor to safety from underneath the rubble, while 20 people are said to have been injured from collapsed structures.

Sadly, a poor dog was found dead at the scene of the accident. The two cranes buckled under the weight of the unstable ground, crushing a row of buildings and falling into the canal water.

Footage was filmed from a local resident who told reporters at the accident scene: “You see the cloud of dust rise – that is a terrible image and you think, ‘Who is under there?’ You can’t believe what you see.” A security perimeter surrounds the construction site, while Dutch prosecutors have launched a criminal investigation into the unfortunate situation .
