Tennessee law lets people break into hot cars to save pets

A brand new law in Tennessee legally allows people to save stranded pets from hot cars.

The law was instated at the beginning of the this month and it’s being applied in 16 other states in U.S. where a U.S. citizen is legally protected from lawsuits in such a predicament.

Up until July 1, there was a Samaritan Law in Tennessee and it referred only to saving childeren, but now it has been extended to pets and animals as well.

In other words, the new law is going to protect those who smash the windows or fiddle with the locks to open up the hot car and save the precious kids and/or animals inside.

However, that doesn’t mean a bystander will immediately break into the vehicle to save the animal as first he has to make sure the car is locked and the child and/or animal is indeed in a real immediate danger while calling the police is also a must.

It’s a sad thing that we need laws like this as children and pets should not be abandoned in vehicles at all, especially on a hot summer day where the temperature inside the cabin can literally reach deadly levels.
