One hundred 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213 test cars parked – Video
An amateur car spotter specialized in Mercedes-Benz models has caught on camera no less than 100 pre-production units of the next generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W213).
This is by far our best look at Daimler’s new mid-size model as some of the cars are only wearing makeup on the lighting clusters and on the lower part of the front bumper. Most of the vehicles remain hidden under a cover, but the others which are exposed show once again the E-Class will look pretty much like a bigger C-Class / smaller S-Class. All these pre-production units show the standard wheelbase model, but we already know a LWB model is also on the agenda and it could be sold as a Mercedes-Maybach E-Class model.
Riding on the same MRA platform as its smaller brother, the next-gen E-Class will be a tad bigger than its predecessor but at the same time it’s expected to shed some weight. We don’t get to see the interior in this short spy video but previous images sent by our photographers haven shown the dashboard with the dual screen will be sourced from the S-Class.
Taking into account pre-production phase has already commenced, it means an official reveal of E-Class W213 is nearby and Mercedes-Benz could decide to show us their new model before the car’s confirmed pubic debut in January at NAIAS in Detroit, so look for an online reveal as early as December.
