Rotting 1966 Mustang Shelby GT350 H selling for $70,000

Rotting 1966 Mustang Shelby GT350 H selling for $70,000

For those who don’t know much about classic muscle cars, what you’re looking at may look like a rotted and rusted old school Ford Mustang. Trust us, it’s much, much more than that. Notice anything different? Perhaps some gold Le Mans stripes and trim paint? Beneath the decay is a 1966 Mustang Shelby GT350 H. “H” as in for Hertz. Leave it to Carroll Shelby to come up with a plan this awesome. He struck a deal with Hertz Rental Car back in ’66 to build a limited number (about a 1,000 units) GT350s specifically for rental.

That’s right, you could rent a Shelby Mustang. The ‘60s were awesome. Anyway, once their brief careers as rental cars came to an end, all of the GT350 H’s were sent back to Ford and refurbished, later sold to the public. Needless to say, the surviving cars have become highly sought after by collectors. A restored Mustang Shelby GT350 H can easily go for over $150,000, depending on various factors of course. That’s why this trashed GT350-H has the potential for greatness once again. It’s up for sale on Craigslist Chicago for $70,000 and will clearly require a full restoration. Done the right way this GT350 H could churn a solid profit. Scroll down to see what it could look like once restored.
