2276HP Nissan GT-R New Dyno World Record – Video
The Nissan GT-R we are here to discuss can be called many things. From a fire-spitting version of Godzilla to a record-breaking machine, many names would be fit for this Nissan.
Yes, we said “a record-breaking machine,” as the GT-R in question delivers a monstrous output of 2,276 hp at 9,332 rpm and 1,335 lb-ft (1,810 Nm) at 7,484 rpm. Keep in mind that we are talking about the output at the wheels.
Aftermarket company T1 Race Development, who came up with the project, claims this is a new dyno record. At least for now, we’ll take their word for it.
This is a car used for quarter-mile races and other drag racing moves, and in this world, having a GT-R that goes past the 2,000 hp mark is no longer unique. Heck, AMS Performance has even come up with a 2,000 HP GT-R customer car, albeit one that has suffered a serious crash at the drag strip.
As for AMS’ development car, this has replaced the factory engine block with a billet block for the current season, with the tuner only saying their Alpha Omega GT-R has over 2,000 hp.
Returning to the T1 Race Development GT-R, the Nissan recently took part in the Texas Invitational trap speed challenge. The vehicle came second in the event, losing to an Audi R8 that can deliver as much as 2,300 hp at the wheels.
However, T1 came up with an explanation after the race: “So I was a bit curious how much power my car was making in the finals at TI, i’d never had it up to 60psi at the track or on the dyno. Turns out it was misfiring a bit up there and was way too soft on the tuneup. Made 1955whp as it sat in the finals. A couple pulls later with the tune cleaned up and no misfires, she’s up to a new record, 2276whp. Next event can’t come soon enough!”
Oh well, we guess we’ll just have to wait for the following series of races to see the full potential of their GT-R.
