2025 Toyota Hilux – Too Bad America Is Missing Out On This Beast
The 2025 Toyota Hilux is back and tougher than ever, continuing its long-standing reputation for durability, performance, and no-nonsense utility. Whether you need a reliable workhorse or a weekend warrior, Toyota has put serious thought into the latest Hilux lineup.
The new Hilux comes in multiple configurations including Single Cab, Extra Cab, and Dual Cab, giving buyers flexibility depending on their needs. Under the hood, there are several engine choices: a 2.4 liter diesel, a 2.7 liter petrol, and the more powerful 2.8 liter diesel. These engines are available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, giving drivers the powertrain that fits their driving style.
But if you are someone who wants more than just function, the GR Sport model is the one to watch. It packs a 2.8 liter turbo diesel engine pushing out 220 horsepower and 500 Newton-meters of torque. That means serious off-road performance, a towing capacity of up to 3,500 kilograms, and a payload rating of 1,010 kilograms. Add in carbon fiber-style trim, unique wheels, and GR badging, and this Hilux is not just ready to work — it is ready to turn heads.
Pricing varies depending on the market and model, but in Australia, it starts at $27,730 for the entry-level Single Cab Workmate (2WD) and goes all the way up to $75,310 for the fully loaded Dual Cab GR-Sport with a two-tone exterior.
Although the Hilux continues to be a global favorite, it is still not available in the United States market. Many fans are talking about the possibility of a future release, especially after Toyota introduced the Hilux Champ in Thailand. Still, Toyota has not confirmed any plans for a North American debut.
