2025 Ford Maverick Lobo Revealed
Ford has unveiled the 2025 Maverick Lobo, addressing the demand for a hybrid all-wheel-drive version of their compact truck. The Lobo, meaning “Wolf” in Spanish and also the name of the F-150 in Mexico, is a street-oriented performance model with several enhancements.
The Lobo sits 0.5 inches lower at the front axle and 1.12 inches lower at the rear axle compared to the standard Maverick. This lower stance is complemented by a stiffened suspension and monotube rear dampers sourced from the Maverick Tremor, but with unique tuning. The roof height has been reduced by 0.8 inches, and the truck features distinctive 19-inch black “turbofan” wheels reminiscent of those on the Escort RS Cosworth.
Braking is improved with dual-piston brake calipers from the Focus ST, and the steering rack, borrowed from the European Kuga, provides quicker response. The Lobo also inherits upper strut mounts and steering rack bushings from the Mustang Mach-E, along with an enhanced cooling system featuring a larger radiator, fan, and transmission oil cooler from the 4K Tow Pack.
The Maverick Lobo includes a dedicated Lobo mode for off-road use, enabling torque vectoring and loosening the stability control system for a more dynamic driving experience. Power comes from a turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine producing 238 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
Cosmetic upgrades include a black roof, body-colored rear bumper and rocker moldings, and unique Grabber Blue and Electric Lime interior accents. Pricing starts at $36,595, with a higher-specification model available for $42,090. Deliveries are set to begin in early 2025.
