2025 Audi A6 World Premiere

2025 Audi A6 World Premiere

Audi is keeping the station wagon alive with its latest release, the new A6 Avant. This next-generation model is essentially a larger version of the A5 Avant, and while that might not sound exciting at first, both vehicles bring a sleek and refined design to the table. The A6 Avant makes its debut first as a station wagon, with the sedan version expected to follow soon.

One of the more unusual choices for the launch was the press images featuring a brown paint job. While color preference is subjective, it is not the most striking shade Audi could have chosen. Fortunately, German journalists were able to check out a black version with darkened Audi rings, giving it a sportier look. Interestingly, Audi initially planned to call this model the A7 Avant, aligning with a revised naming strategy that distinguished internal combustion engine vehicles from electric ones. That plan, however, has been scrapped.

Unlike the fully electric A6 Avant E-Tron, this model does not adopt the trendy split-headlight design. Instead, it retains a more traditional front-end styling, though the sensors and radars integrated into the grille remain somewhat of an eyesore. At the rear, Audi has officially abandoned the use of fake exhaust tips, ensuring a more authentic design.

With a drag coefficient of 0.25, the A6 Avant is Audi’s most aerodynamic gasoline-powered station wagon ever. In comparison, the electric A6 Avant E-Tron has an even lower drag coefficient of 0.24. Wheel sizes range from 18 inches on the base model to 21-inch forged wheels on high-end versions.

The new A6 Avant measures 196.4 inches in length, an increase of 2.3 inches over its predecessor. The wheelbase remains at 115.2 inches, while the width stays just under 74 inches. Inside, the cabin closely resembles the A5 Avant, featuring a 14.5-inch infotainment screen, an 11.9-inch digital driver’s display, and an optional 10.9-inch passenger screen. Audi also improved sound insulation by 30 percent without adding extra weight.

Under the hood, the base model features a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 201 horsepower, while the diesel variant offers the same power but higher torque. A more powerful 3.0-liter V6 delivers 362 horsepower, allowing for a 0 to 62 mile per hour sprint in 4.7 seconds. Additional features include rear-wheel steering, adaptive air suspension, and a premium drivetrain.

Orders are now open in Europe, with prices starting at 58,000 euros for the gasoline model and 61,700 euros for the diesel.
