2016 Kawasaki ZZR1400 – Official

2016 Kawasaki ZZR1400 – Official

Good news for those of you who were considering getting a Kawasaki ZZR1400 but were afraid that the new Euro 4 emission regulations would have a negative impact on the tech specs of the bike. House Akashi managed to meet the Euro 4 regulations AND keep the power and the torque figures untouched.

The sport-touring Kawasaki flagship packs the same 200 horsepower at 10,000 rpm as before, and this number can even increase to 210 hp with RAM Air. The peak torque is still 158.2 Nm (116.6 lb-ft) at 7,500 rpm, so you can rest assured the Euro 4 compliance has not made this beast any weaker.

Reportedly, Kawasaki worked on the engine and made changes to the ECU mapping, as well as to the design of the exhaust system. A new fuel vapor filter system was also perfect to improve the emissions-vs-power ratio. The top speed is still limited to 298 km/h (185 mph), and unless you plan to race it really hard, this should do for track, highway and streets alike.

New LCD dash instruments offer better visibility

Kawasaki also revised the dashboard, adding new dials and providing better visibility for the LCD display both at night and in daylight. Chassis and brakes were also tweaked, and a Sport Performance version also introduces several premium parts.

The list includes monoblock M50 Brembo radial-mount calipers, and an adjustable Öhlins TTX39 rear monoshock. Specially-engineered Akrapovic silencers are also on the menu.

The 2016 Kawasaki ZZR1400 also comes standard with an ECO Riding indicator, K-ACT ABS, KTRC traction control dual power modes, and dual throttle valves. Price and availability to be known soon.

Stay tuned in November as we are bringing you lots of live photos of both machines from the Kawasaki stand at EICMA.
