1978 Ferrari 308 bust into flames in at a California gas station
A beautiful classic 1978 Ferrari 308 met its maker this week when it burst into flames at a California gas station. The owner was placing the gas nozzle back in the fuel pump when he saw a spark that instantly set off a flaming eruption above the engine bay. The car was only inches away from explosive fuel pumps when it caught fire, but thankfully the fire remained isolated to the vehicle. After failing to put out the raging fire with a nearby extinguisher the owner ran for cover as the entire car was set ablaze.
Miraculously the flaming Ferrari, which was probably in gear at the time, began driving itself away from the gas station and into the street. The car was left completely black and charred, but the owner says that hopes to get another one soon. The 1978 Ferrari 308 has a 2.9 liter V8 engine that produces 237 hp and approximately 217 lb-ft of torque. It has a 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 159 mph.
