US-spec 2017 Audi A4 details released
Preliminary details have emerged concerning the 2017 Audi A4 (US-spec) model programmed to go on sale next March.
Initially, the new premium compact sedan from Ingolstadt will be available for U.S. customers with a choice of two engines, the 2.0 TFSI with 252 bhp and 273 lb-ft along with a more economical 2.0 TDI churning 190 bhp and 295 lb-ft.
Upon launch, both engines will be teamed up to a seven-speed S tronic transmission sending power to a quattro all-wheel drive system.
Later on in the same 2017 model year, a front-wheel drive layout will be added while a six-speed manual gearbox is currently being considered.
In terms of standard equipment, the US-bound A4 (B9) will get a standard tri-zone automatic climate control system, 40/40/20 split-folding rear bench and a 7-inch display for the MMI infotainment system, but an upgrade to an 8.3-inch screen will be available at an extra cost.
If you go for the latter, Audi USA will also be offering an optional 12.3-inch configurable digital instrument cluster while both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will be supported.
On the outside it will get standard bi-xenon headlights and a generous array of alloy wheel designs in sizes ranging from 17 to 19 inches.
Chances of seeing the A4 Avant in U.S. dealerships are slim, but at least the rugged allroad quattro will be there and is going to be followed by the S4 and quite possibly the RS4 Avant with a turbo-six pushing out 420+ bhp.
