Renault Coupe Corbusier concept photo gallery

Following a reveal earlier this week, Renault has published additional images of their Coupe Corbusier which will remain only a concept.

It was developed with the sole purpose of commemorating 50 years since French architect Le Corbusier passed away and Renault’s management gave the design team full freedom which is why the concept doesn’t show any resemblances with any other current cars with the diamond logo. The idea behind the concept is to express the topic of “French cultural objects” and the designers took their inspiration from cars of the 1930s while Corbusier’s work was also a major influential factor.

With this striking concept, Renault says they wanted to express the “ideas of simplicity, visible and aesthetically-assumed structure, geometric elegance and mastery of light.” The company goes on to specify the car – which lacks the Renault logo – came to life after implementing Corbusier’s modernist principles and theories.

 

 

Renault is keeping the technical specifications shrouded in mystery, but this is purely a design concept, so it doesn’t really matter what is lurking underneath that elongated hood which appears to have a split opening. The transparent roof is a very nice touch while the back of the car looks quite muscular with those bulging fenders making the concept look imposing.
