Rare 1994 Mercedes 500E with only 34K miles for sale
Each one of these rare beasts took a full 18 days to be hand-built by Porsche. Production lasted only from 1991 to 1994 and every single Mercedes-Benz 500 E was transported back and forth between the Mercedes factory and Porsche’s Rossle-Bau factory in Zuffenhausen, Germany during assembly. Essentially, the Mercedes 500 E is a high-performance version of the well-built W124 sedan, powered by a huge 5.0-liter V8 with 322 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque paired to a four-speed automatic transmission. 0-62 mph happens in about 6.1 seconds and top speed is 161.1 mph.
Those numbers may not amaze you by today’s standards, but back in the early 1990s they helped earn the Mercedes 500 E the nickname “Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing.” Other hand-built add-ons include a wider wheel stance, lower ride height, flared fenders, side skirts, front air-dam, and wide tires. All told, just over 10,000 examples were produced before production ended, and a perfect one is for sale.
The seller post date this 1992 Mercedes 500 E is a California car, meaning there’s no rust and mileage is unbelievably low at just over 34,000. It even comes equipped with the super rare AMG OZ wheels. There doesn’t appear to be any body issues, other than a noted minor accident in a parking lot by its previous owner.
