Porsche GT3 avoids crash by going into the grass at Nurburgring – Video

Here’s a perfect example of why you shouldn’t drive too slow on the Nurburgring, especially when you’re occupying the racing line.

The gentleman behind the wheel of the classic 911 should have definitely known better than to assume that other drivers can simply overtake him easily regardless of which section of the track he’s on and how slow he is.

Apart from the fact that this would have been a seriously sad Porsche on Porsche crime had the two cars collided, the man driving the white 911 GT3 definitely deserves a huge thumbs up for keeping his cool, not applying the brakes desperately and doing everything possible as to not lose control of the car when getting on to the grass.

He smartly went back and forth between applying brake pressure and letting the car coast while keeping it straight the second he clipped the grass, only accelerating once he had cleared the curbs and the corner itself.

The second camera angle is a bit more revealing as it shows that at one point, he actually had enough room to get back on the track before reaching the corner. However, again, he smartly decided against changing directions while on the slippery grass.

Sticking with the same angle, we can also clearly see that given the lack of visibility initially, this was far more of a close call than what some might have thought.

Let’s hope that the driver of the old 911 learned something from this experience and won’t be endangering anybody else in the future.
