Porsche 991 Turbo S by Edo Competition – Fastest Porsche ever around the Sachsenring track

 

The development of the car started more than a year ago with a Porsche 991 Turbo S which received the tuner’s stage II kit raising output to an enormous 669 horsepower (492 kilowatts) and 650 pound-feet (880 newton meters) of torque.

Once the power package was implemented, the tuned Porsche 991 Turbo S was able to perform the 0-60 mph (0-96 kph) task in less than 2.7 seconds, thus making it half a second faster than a stock Turbo S. Edo Competition tested the modified 911 at the ATP race track in Papenburg and managed to hit a maximum speed of 212 mph (341.21 kph), considerably more than the series 197 mph (318 kph).

The main idea behind the Porsche 991 Turbo S was to make it the quickest Porsche ever around the Sachsenring track in Germany and the tuner’s car dubbed “Blackburn” did just that. With a time of 1 minute and 30.15 seconds, it’s now the quickest Porsche ever to complete a lap of the 2.3-mile circuit located in Hohenstein-Ernstthal. For the sake of comparison, the previous Porsche record belonged to the 918 Spyder which completed the lap in 1 minute and 30.34 seconds. Ok, so the difference between the two is minor, but it’s enough to put the 911 on top.

Behind the wheel was professional driver Marc Basseng with the heavily modified 911 riding on 20-inch forged wheels with central lock developed by edo specifically for this occasion. The wheels were wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 semi-slicks and the car also had an edo/KW Competition thread chassis.
