Nissan Nismo Driving Academy 2017 – Video
Nissan and Sony held the first GT Academy in 2008, and since then the program has been defying both common sense and motorsports tradition. The academy takes people who are good at video games and, in a matter of months, helps turn them into professional drivers for Nissan.
When you were a kid, did you ever dream of becoming a racecar driver? Well, that dream could still be alive, because GT Academy could put you behind the wheel of a real racecar, and give you a real racing career. All you need is PlayStation® Gran Turismo 6® to earn your spot in the National Finals. Oh yeah, you’ll also need the skills to beat 400,000 competitors. 20 will make it to the next round. You could be one of them.
If you’ve made it this far, you’ll learn pretty fast that it’s not a video game anymore. An elite group of finalists make it to England’s legendary Silverstone raceway for an intense weeklong competition that will literally separate the winner from the losers.
At GT Academy, the Driver Development program turns gamers into racers, but it’s the grueling Dubai 24 Hours race that turns racers into men. In 2014, the GT Academy team took the checkered flag, winning their division by an impressive 25 laps.
