New 2026 or 2027 Toyota Lexus GR GT3 race car All We Know
The Toyota Lexus GR GT3 Concept made its first appearance at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2022 as a preview for the future replacement of the Lexus RC F GT3. This race car won’t officially compete until the 2026 season, but a prototype covered in camouflage has already been seen in Belgium. This sleek Toyota was in action on a wet Spa-Francorchamps track.
Earlier, the GR GT3 was tested in Japan at the Motegi track and Toyota’s Fuji Speedway. Now it’s making waves in Europe, showcasing its massive rear wing and wide stance.
Despite the rain, the test driver didn’t hold back, maneuvering the car through the 4.3-mile circuit’s challenging turns. The GR GT3 holds additional significance as it will inspire a street-legal Lexus sports car.
“What matters is that a new sports car will have a license plate,” hints at a promising development. It’s expected to be powered by a robust V8 engine, as suggested by its deep exhaust note. Reports indicate the race car was initially planned to debut in the 2025 season but faced delays due to challenges in developing the street version, pushing its debut to 2026. It’s been over two years since the concept was first shown.
The race debut might happen at the 2026 Daytona 24 Hours, with hopes of seeing the road version even sooner. This progress highlights Toyota’s dedication to merging advanced racing technology with everyday driving, offering an exciting future for both racing fans and regular drivers.
