Jonny Lieberman sets out to discover what the first-ever Jaguar SUV is all about. Why is Jaguar even building the F-Pace? The car world has changed. Sedans are on their way out as more and more consumers turn toward the perceived capabilities of SUVs. As a result, as good as Jaguar’s cars are, no one is buying them. Enter the F-Pace, a vehicle built on the same aluminum-intensive platform as the XF and XE sedans. It features the same engine and transmissions, too. However, unlike the four-doors, the SUV borrows a trick or two from its corporate sibling, the Land Rover. The result is a vehicle that, on paper, has the right look, the right parts, and the right breeding to make some serious headway in the premium SUV marketplace. But is the Jaguar F-pace as good as its story makes it out to be?
