MGB Abingdon Edition is a work of art – Video
The art of re-engineering classic sports cars using modern components is nothing short of amazing as this brand new MGB Abingdon Edition demonstrates so vividly.
Frontline Developments is building these MGs, using new shells and Mazda powertrains. Under the bonnet lies a naturally aspirated 304hp 2.5lt petrol engine mated to a MX-5 gearbox. Total weight is just 897kg (1,978 pounds) so is no wonder that the 0-62mph (0-100km/h) figure is rated at 3.8 seconds with an estimated 162mph top speed.
The quality of the build is just mind-blowing, with the paint process alone taking four whole weeks to complete. XCAR explains what goes into a bespoke creation like this, where everything is built upon request, combining the best of both the modern and the classic cars.
Common people will still see it as just another MG but very few will recognize the utter brilliance of it.
