McLaren MP4-X concept
Looking like a modern successor of the classic Batcar, the MP4-X study features a futuristic design with enclosed cockpit and active aerodynamic body details. Basically, electrodes mounted on the car’s wings electronically control the bodywork, enabling downforce changes for cornering and on the straights. On the other hand, the cockpit is equipped with a head-up display, delivering the driver information about important events in the race – such as the positions of the closest rivals, flag and caution data, the location of accidents, etc.
McLaren says the technology of the concept is all real, even if it’s still in its earliest phases of development. Probably the most impressive technology in the car is the brain synaptic control system that is monitoring the electrical signals within the driver’s brain to control the vehicle’s systems. According to the manufacturer, a vehicle with no physical controls at all is a theoretical possibility, but the tech for this is still in its early stages.
