The 12C Spider comes to life with the roof down. The performance characteristics don’t change, but the experience does. The open road, weather, wind and the thundering soundtrack of the McLaren V8. Nothing feels like it.

It takes just 17 seconds for the retractable hardtop roof to fold gracefully into the bodywork. It can also be operated at up to 30kph (19mph).

Mixed by hand. Painted by hand. Finished to perfection. Our 3-stage, Formula 1™ inspired paint technology ensures the colour, tint, lustre and finish of the 12C Spider’s paintwork is flawless. It also keeps the paint weight to an absolute minimum.

Many of our Special and Elite paint finishes contain a higher level of metallic and pearlescent content. Using exclusive pigments and a greater holographic effect, these highly crafted finishes compliment the car’s aero-led design by accentuating every line, curve and contour of the body.

The mechanisms required to open, close and store the RHT roof adds weight. Weight being the enemy of performance, our engineers weren’t satisfied when they reached the 50kg weight target set for the roof. Six obsessive months later, they’d got it down to 40kgs. Making it the lightest RHT roof on the road.
