Lotus Exige Sport 350 track promo – Video
Unveiled earlier this month, the Exige Sport 350 is billed as the “ultimate incarnation of the world famous Exige” as it is lighter and faster than the Exige S.
In order to achieve this, engineers weighed every component on the Exige S and went to work on finding ways to reduce the car’s mass. In the end, engineers were able to cut 112 lbs (51 kg) of weight thanks to the use of a lighter battery, a louvered tailgate panel, and lightweight engine mounts. The car also features lighter HVAC pipework, revised sound insulation, and a new center console with an exposed gearshift mechanism.
Power is provided by a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 345 hp (257 kW) and 295 lb-ft (399 Nm) of torque. The engine is connected to a “heavily revised” manual transmission that enables the Exige to accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 3.9 seconds before hitting a top speed of 170 mph (274 km/h). The model can also be equipped with an optional six-speed automatic transmission which reduces the 0-62 mph time to 3.8 seconds.
