World Class Manufacturing Accomplishments
Tipton Transmission was awarded bronze status for its results in implementing World Class Manufacturing (WCM) on July 12, 2016, becoming the fastest North American plant to receive this designation. The Tipton, Ind., transmission plant reached the bronze milestone just over two years after starting production of the new nine-speed transmission in April 2014. WCM is a methodology that focuses on eliminating waste, increasing productivity, and improving quality and safety in a systematic and organized way. It engages the workforce to provide and implement suggestions on how to improve their jobs and their plants, promoting a sense of ownership.
