Honda Prelude With Two VTEC Engines
Honda is trying to bring back the “cool” in a big way with the new Honda Civic, Type-R and Honda NSX, although the latter sports an Acura badge. One vehicle we would love to see wedge its way into the Honda lineup is the Honda Prelude, one of the ultimate tuning icons. That doesn’t seem likely, so for now the world will need to be content with this crazy custom job that sports two VTEC engines. That’s right, there’s another engine sitting in front of the rear axle.
The two 2.2-liter DOHC Honda VTEC engines are good for a combined power output of 400 HP and 312 lb-ft of torque. According to the seller there’s just about a 50/50 weight distribution here and a 0 to 60 somewhere in the mid-four second range. Amazingly it seems like there’s nothing but positives here as the two-engine Prelude has better handling and power while still looking almost factory. Hell, it can even pass strict emissions tests. The seller, a student who built the vehicle as part of a school project, was asking $19,500 on eBay but only ended up getting $9,600. That is a very good deal for one of a kind car?
