Genesis Unveils Drop-Dead Gorgeous Concepts… But Will They Build Them?

Genesis Unveils Drop-Dead Gorgeous Concepts… But Will They Build Them?

Genesis is on a roll with breathtaking concept cars, even if most of them never hit the production line. Remember the 2021 Genesis X and 2022 X Convertible? They still stand out, and now Genesis is back with two more stunners: the X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible. Both just made their debut at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show and are already turning heads. But before anyone gets too excited, keep in mind these are likely just beautiful design studies rather than future showroom models.

The Gran Coupe and Gran Convertible are based on the G90 sedan, which is Genesis’ current flagship. Although the convertible is shown with the roof down in all images, it does in fact have a soft top tucked away. Their sleek, luxurious styling gives off major Bentley Continental GT and Lexus LC vibes — and that is not a bad thing at all.

Inside, Genesis went with unique themes for each concept. The Gran Coupe features green leather inspired by Mediterranean olives, while the Gran Convertible’s deep blue cabin takes cues from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in Livorno, Italy. These little touches give the interiors a sense of story and character.

Genesis has been around as a standalone brand for just under a decade and has already sold over 1.3 million vehicles. While their current success is built on SUVs and sedans, it is clear they want to aim higher. These latest concepts suggest Genesis is dreaming of taking on premium grand tourers like the BMW 8 Series.

Sure, these cars might never see a dealership floor. But halo models like these help shape brand identity and get people in the door — even if they leave with a GV70 instead. With Hyundai’s backing, Genesis has the budget to dream big. Maybe one day, we will see these dreams come to life.
