Exhaust Battle – BMW E92 M3 Custom Exhaust vs AC Schnitzer BMW M4 – Video
We all know that the BMW E92 M3 was the only BMW M3 ever made with a V8 under the hood and what seemed like sacrilege at the time it came out became legend afterwards. That’s right, the S65 4-liter BMW V8 it used wrote history in more than one way.
Apart from the fact that it was the only engine of its kind to be used on an BMW M3 it also became the last naturally aspirated engine to be manufactured by BMW itself. On top of that, it made a sound that could get you to fall in love with it every time you revved it to redline.
No matter what bad things can be said about the older BMW M3, all was forgiven the moment the engine was turned on. That being said, add a custom exhaust system to the mix and things might go overboard.
Usually, they do, and we don’t find exhausts that are too loud in any way attractive. To us, it’s the tone, not the volume that matters and this BMW M3, fitted with a Stanic performance exhaust is just right.
Right alongside it you’ll also notice an AC Schnitzer M4 that, in our book, offers the best exhaust sound for the new S55 3-liter inline 6-cylinder engine. The showdown is impressive and it could go either way but to our ears, the BMW naturally aspirated V8 sound will never get old.
