BMW i8 Carbon Aerodynamic Accessories By AC Schnitzer – Video
The most advanced sports car of our time has now been optimised further by some AC Schnitzer innovations. At the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2017, the Aachen-based tuning specialist will launch the plug-in hybrid BMW i8 from Munich with new carbon aerodynamic components and special livery.
The i8 by AC Schnitzer, with 25 mm lowering at the front and 20 mm at the rear, is significantly closer to the road than the standard vehicle, ensuring greater stability in all cornering situations.
AC Schnitzer carbon front spoiler elements, carbon side skirts and carbon Racing rear wing ensure that driving pleasure can be fully enjoyed on acceleration from both the powerful petrol engine and the hybrid electric motor.
In addition, a carbon middle front spoiler, the carbon bonnet top including middle strut, and the carbon front side wings further emphasise the sporting attributes of the BMW i8.
The carbon air outlets at front and rear not only give the i8 that certain visual extra, but also provide a more intelligent structure of the wheel arch vents.
Carbon side skirts on the left and right, in combination with the three-piece carbon rear diffuser, provide the suction effect in the underfloor region of the i8. The result: better pressure distribution and even more downforce.
Aesthetically, the BMW i8 by AC Schnitzer with its carbon door handle recesses and mirror covers, the newly restyled BMW kidney grille, AC Schnitzer logos (160 mm) on left and right, and the special Inferno Red Chrome livery, offers that added value for every tuning fan.
Aluminium pedal set, aluminium footrest and floor mats of velours emphasise the light touch of the interior design, and at the same time highlight the sophisticated look of the i8 by AC Schnitzer.
When it comes to wheel sets, the Aachen company has come up with another innovation: the lightweight AC1 Forged Alloy Wheels in BiColor or Anthracite were specially developed for the sports car, combining hybrid looks with sporting design. Compared with the BMW Turbinenstyling 625 in 20″, the wheels (front 8.5J x 21″ and rear 9.5J x 21″) save a good 4.4 kg in weight and therefore improve the transverse dynamics.
Fitted with corresponding tyres (245/35 R 21 front and 285/30 R 21 rear) and optional wheel painting in any colour desired, AC Schnitzer once again demonstrates that over 30 years of innovation have guided company philosophy, and that sporting performance and style can always be revolutionised into something new.
