Alpine Celebration Concept Exhaust Sound – Video

Alpine Celebration Concept Exhaust Sound – Video

After a long time, Renault’s little sporty Alpine brand finally looks to return to European roads decades after going MIA. During the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Renault suggested one direction for its revival with the Renault Alpine Celebration concept. While nowhere near as wild looking at the earlier A110-50 , the latest Alpine looked far more ready for production. The Alpine Celebration also joined the festivities at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and was caught on video actually moving under its own power.

Renault is keeping mum about the concept’s power, but seeing the Renault Celebration going even at these low speeds proves there’s an engine somewhere under the retro bodywork. Unfortunately, the concept doesn’t sound great here. There’s a little burble coming from the exhaust, but it hardly quickens the pulse. Hopefully, further tuning before arriving on the road can offer something a bit more exciting.

The rear-engine Renault Celebration looks like a retro-inspired update of the classic A110. Rumors suggest Renault is taking the development seriously, though. The Alpine reportedly borrows tech from the company’s allies at Nissan and Daimler. A production version, possibly called the AS1, could offer around 250 horsepower in a lightweight body when it goes on sale in 2017. The newcomer would allegedly try to take on other sporty, European coupes like the Audi TT and lower-trim versions of the Porsche Cayman. Prices are believed to be around 30,000 to 35,000 euros ($34,000 to $40,000). Unfortunately, given Renault’s absence from the US market, seeing them here looks quite unlikely.
