2019 Suzuki Motorcycle Unveiling – Video
The all-new KATANA is a completely new model which derives from the original GSX1100S KATANA that won the hearts of riders around the world with its avant-garde KATANA (Japanese sword) design, when it was showcased at the Cologne Motor Show in 1980. Upon developing the all-new KATANA, Suzuki poured in all efforts in expressing the Suzuki craftsmanship and the KATANA, on the back of Suzuki’s manufacturing spirit and KATANA’s history. As a result, like a Japanese sword of tempered steel, the all-new KATANA, which has both a distinctive, avant-garde styling design and contemporary technologies, was born.
With the GSX1100S KATANA as its motif, the highly distinctive design of the all-new KATANA is arranged into a modern look and adopts sleek, sporty profile with sharp, sweeping lines. With distinctive vertically stacked LED headlight and LED position lamp that gives the image of an edge point of a Japanese sword, it has a characteristic face that expresses the KATANA. Plus, satellite rear fender extending from the swing arm is adopted for the first time on Suzuki motorcycle. This enables placing turn signals and license plate holder in lower position and realises clean and compact design.
In order to realise exciting acceleration and riding suited for street use, 999cm3 inline-four engine based on that of GSX-R1000 is installed on a lightweight frame. Also, three-mode traction control, ABS, inverted front forks, Brembo radial mount front brake calipers, etc. are standard equipment.
The all-new KATANA will be produced at the Hamamatsu Plant and is planned to be launched globally from the spring of 2019 in areas including Europe.

Suzuki started with a goal to reclaim the GSX-R1000’s The King of Sportbikes crown.
From there, the fundamental capabilities that make a great sportbike were distilled down to three words: run, stop, and turn – making the new GSX-R1000R run better, turn better, and stop better than any other sportbike.
Its all-new, more compact, and lighter engine with class-leading power is delivered smoothly and controllably across a broad rpm range, equally suited for driving hard out of a racetrack corner or accelerating effortlessly onto a public highway.
In addition, its all-new design consists of a more compact chassis that delivers nimble handling with excellent front-end feel and braking, as useful for trail-braking on the racetrack as for rolling into tight corners on a country road. Added advanced electronics that aren’t too complicated to use and bodywork with refined aerodynamics help reduce drag at top speed on the racetrack and improve rider comfort on brisk street rides.
In short, Suzuki developed a new, unmatched combination of reliability, durability, usability, and overall performance with excellent racing potential in a package that works as well for street riders as it does for track-day riders and amateur or professional racers.
The Suzuki Integrated Design approach, with a dedicated team of talented engine, chassis, electronic, and aerodynamic engineers working together, produced an outstanding sportbike. The new GSX-R1000R proves it was built to Own the Racetrack, as it captured the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship in its debut year, once again asserting its claim as The King of Sportbikes.
Three decades ago Suzuki revolutionized sportbikes with the introduction of the GSX-R750. Ever since then, the GSX-R750 has remained true to its original concept and championship-winning heritage. On the road or on the track, the GSX-R750 delivers a breathtaking combination of outstanding engine performance, crisp handling, compact size, and light weight. Its secret is an unequaled pairing of 750cc performance with the lightweight, compact chassis of a 600cc Supersport, complemented by technologically advanced suspension front and rear. Try a GSX-R750 and you’ll quickly realize this motorcycle defines performance riding from the center of the sportbike class.
