2017 Chevrolet Onix and 2017 Chevrolet Prisma – Video
2017 Chevrolet Onix
Despite General Motors backing away from further investments in Brazil, the automaker has pressed reset on the popular Chevrolet Onix.
The 2017 Chevrolet Onix most notably dials up its green credentials, and brings greater technology to the market, including standard OnStar and Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
Moving away from the simplistic, yet handsome design, the Onix ups its frugality with a choice of two engines: a 1.0L or 1.4L. Either may be paired with a new six-speed automatic, or six-speed manual gearbox. Electric power steering and new suspension calibration also helps shed weight, while improving comfort. In all, over 100 components were studied to reduce weight in the Onix by over 70 pounds.
2017 Chevrolet Prisma
Beginning in 2013, the Prisma quickly became a popular vehicle, despite its more popular cousin, the Chevrolet Onix, reaching number one in Brazil. But, for those looking for a compact sedan, the Prisma does the job quite well. New exterior design brings the Prisma together with global Chevrolet language with sportiness in mind.
Unlike the 2017 Onix, though, are powertrains. The 2017 Prisma will arrive with only the 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine. The engine brings the Prisma in line with the ECO system, which calls for greater frugality in Brazilian vehicles.
Numerous components were reworked to increase comfort and fuel economy, and a six-speed manual gearbox replace the old five-speed. A six-speed automatic is also offered.
