2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce – Video

 

First applied to the Giulietta in 1956, “Veloce” is an appellation that carries real weight with Alfa aficionados. Spec-wise, however, the gas-powered Veloce isn’t far off what we’ll be seeing in America. Carrying the same 276-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine our base and Ti models get, the Veloce sports an eight-speed gearbox and Alfa’s Q4 AWD system. There’s also a 207-hp 2.2-liter diesel available, which we won’t be seeing.

Outside, the Veloce receives a Quadrifoglio-style rear diffuser, although it seems otherwise devoid of the fastest Giulia’s bolder add-ons. Inside, the Veloce wears aluminum inserts in the dash, tunnel, and door panels, offsetting the black leather sport seats. Nifty five-hole, none-more-Alfa 19-inch wheels are an option. We wouldn’t rule out seeing the Veloce arrive as a U.S.-market trim package at some point, slotting between the Ti and the Quadrifoglio. But we’d also suggest that it’s somewhat contingent on Fiat Chrysler being able to move the Giulias that have already been allocated for American dealerships.
