2016 Mercedes C-Class Coupe spy photos
This is by far our best look at the highly anticipated 2016 Mercedes C-Class Coupe.
Now we finally get to see the sloped roofline and the heavily inclined rear window creating a very sleek look for what is being described by Mercedes designer Gorden Wagener as being the “coolest version” of the Mercedes W205 generation.
The prototype snatched on camera appears to be an AMG Line model riding on the AMG five-spoke alloys and wearing a cheery red paint known as Hyacinthrot Metallic.
Compared to the old Mercedes C-Class Coupe, the new version sits 1.6 inches (4 cm) closer to the road and also has a lower center of gravity.
Mercedes has already said they focused more on sportiness which is why they had to make some compromises in terms of comfort and practicality.
While some were expecting the rear end to resemble the Mercedes S-Class Coupe and/or Mercedes AMG GT, it seems that won’t be the case as the Mercedes C-Class Coupe has a different trunk lid with a prominent spoiler and also differently shaped taillights and this particular AMG Line version comes with a body-colored diffuser flanked by the dual exhaust tips.
It will go on sale sometime this fall and is going to be available right away in a range-topping AMG C63 Coupe specification with a twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine offered in two states of tune: 469 bhp (349 kW) & 479 lb-ft (648 Nm) and 503 bhp (375 kW) and 516 lb-ft (698 Nm).
The latter should enable the high-performance coupe hit 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill in around 3.9 seconds and top out at an electronically-governed 180 mph (290 km/h).
More details will be disclosed on August 19 when the Mercedes C63 Coupe will be unveiled, possibly alongside the lesser versions.
