1 of 40 Fernando Alonso Ferrari 599 For Sale

Many car lovers hear “Ferrari” and only think flashy supercars and rare  hypercars. That’s not far off, but remember that the Italian automaker also has a successful racing history.

Its Formula1 team is celebrated with the Ferrari 599 GTB Alonso Final Edition, or 60F1, seen here into photo gallery. This special edition pays tribute to driver Fernando Alonso who raced for Ferrari from 2010 to 2014.

Only 40 of these special Ferrari 599 GTBs were made and each one celebrates a very specific timeline in racing history.

Way back over half a century ago in 1951 Ferrari driver Jose Froilan Gonzales won the British Grand Prix, the Ferrari’s first Formula One win.

Sixty years later Mr. Alonso won the same race again, hence the special edition celebrating 60 years of Ferrari F1 victories. The 60F1 has the same engine as the Ferrari 599, a 6.0-liter V12 good for 611 horsepower.

However, it gets the HGTE suspension package that includes tighter components, shorter springs and stiffer anti-roll bars.

This very example is going up for auction soon and is expected to bring between $300,000 and $350,000 respectfully. We wouldn’t be shocked if it went for much more due to its history.

If you want to think about it, Ferrari’s nowadays are going for tens of millions of dollars at certain auction which makes $350k look cheap now days.
